dc.description.abstract | From the first decades of the twentieth century, the biblical myth of the new man and the new world has been at times the “vehicle,” at times the “stowaway,” of political ideology: the dream of communist society reactivates the hopes for a thousand-year realm of peace, justice, and happiness that the revolution—a time of struggle and violence—would bring about. From this perspective, the artist, charged with shaping the imagination and generating enthusiasm, accepts the function of an animator of society, as exemplified by the poems of Aragon and Broniewski examined here. | pl |
